Our Dogs

Lynn’s Dog Journey

My first dog was a poodle-ish pound puppy I adopted at the age of 6. From that first trip with my dad til today, I have rarely been without a canine companion. My first bully breed came much later (2008) with a Boxer named Brutus Happy Feet Astaire, and he was THE ONE. Brutus was my steadfast companion of 13 years and taught me the value of loyalty, wisdom whiskers, devotion, and OLD dogs.

As devastating as it was to lose Brutus, I will always have the capacity to love just one more dog. (Thank you Mike, for your patience!) It’s the losing them that is so very hard, and losing Junior so soon after Brutus was a double whammy. Yet we keep on keeping on, opening our home, and our hearts, to just one more.

So here’s to the dogs: Brutus, Junior, Boomer, and now Trixie Jo. Not to mention all those who blessed us before – Nina and Mojo, and all the pound puppies along the way. Each of you own a special piece of my heart. May this venture honor you all.

Sue’s Dog Journey

Sue’s journey began as a youngster when she raised Basset Hounds with her parents. She has rescued more dogs than any heart should ever lose, and always has the capacity to take in just one more. She currently lives with a Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff) named Duckie – 165 pounds of pure love, Sidney the Great Pyrenees, and a Corgi/German Shepard named Willow. Oh, and a couple of cats and a bearded dragon.

People laugh when I tell them that Sue is like “dognip,” but it’s true. She has a way with dogs, especially large breeds, that few of us possess. I knew when I created For Love of Dog that I wanted Sue along for the ride. Her knowledge knows no bounds, be it etiology, nutrition, or behavioral issues. I learn from her every day (you should, too!).
