For a couple of Missouri obedience trainers, Sue and I are pure rookies in the conformation show ring! Rookie Lynn and Rookie Sue decided to check out the ICBR show last week (Fright Night at the Bully Farm at Purina Farms). We went to learn, and maybe enter Trixie into a Fun Show or two, but ended up jumping into the Sanctioned show ring.

Serious shoutout to @Jason Scola of @BlueRiverSTL and @StackzUp for taking time to show us how to stack (literally, in the parking lot), for delivering our stacking box, and for generously providing direction and encouragement to just toss our girl in the conformation show ring and #sinkorswim. We jumped right in and had a blast. By the third show, Trixie & I were syncing up and starting to figure out how best to lead her into a more natural stack. She was such a trooper, hanging tough all day, nonreactive to the dogs, the smells, the sounds, the people, and continuing to trot alongside me and learn new things. Trixie is young … I’m the living proof you can still teach old dogs new tricks!

Another huge shoutout to ICBR, Terry Huntley, Jera Huntley, and the other judges for their calm direction in the ring and support of our debut efforts. Bringing home some ribbons was icing on the cake. So proud of my baby girl!
